The Proteas didn’t cover themselves in glory in the last T20 World Cup. But they didn’t choke. They simply got strategy wrong.
Normally batsmen and bowlers are the scarce resources. In T20 time is the scarce resource. You have to pack in your best batsmen and bowlers early on… no point in leaving ammunition in the bag, because the game might be finished by the time you reach the last over. And then you’re left standing sheepishly looking at Rabada, the world’s best bowler, trying to explain why he didn’t have a full crack at the opposition.
T20 is fast. So are startups. Don’t leave ammo in the bag.
