Hire stars outside your domain expertise

The tendency is to hire people that are mediocre in disciplines that you don’t understand.

For example, IT. You don’t understand computers, so you hire a mediocre IT guy.

Not because you want mediocrity, but because you don’t understand IT.

You can’t spot mediocrity.

Be aware of it, and be extra careful to find stars outside your domain expertise.
