There is a story where it is told that eagles lose their feathers and beak at about the age of 40, whereafter they spend a year in hibernation, eating soft worms and bugs whilst regrowing their feathers and beak.
After that, they live another 30 years as ferocious predators, kings of the sky.
No one seems to have been able to confirm that story in real life, but it’s a good story!
And it is a good metaphor for entrepreneurs.
If you don’t pause, reassess, and re-develop your skills, you risk being outrun by others.
That means having the guts to step out of the game for a year.
It means having enough money (and low enough overhead) to sit on the sidelines.
But if you do manage it, you can be king of the sky for another lifetime.
